Did you Hear that?
Illustration done in Illustration 1 where we had an open assignment to do what we wished. I thought it was a fun idea but got feedback in critique and want to revisit it......
This is an updated sketch, still a kinks to work out but i think I have a little better idea where I'm gonna go now.
Oil Rub of Artist John Howe
First time doing an oil rub which is basically an oil underpainting then layering color pencil over the top. A fun process, I always saw pictures that use this technique but never knew how they were produced so it's nice to finally know haha. We had to choose an artist that was inspirational to us and I love John Howe's work, who basically has done numerous Lord of the Ring and Hobbit paintings and was brought on to help lead the design of Peter Jackson's movies. So thanks to this man and fellow artist Alan Lee, the movies basically look the way they do thanks to these two men. I thought it would be fun to give him Gandalf's pipe too :D
Still Life Earth Color Palette
Still Life done in painting class where we used a limited palette of raw sienna, white, black, yellow ochre, then venetian red and Terre Verte green. approximately 18 by 22 done in oil on illustrate board. also happy to say is hanging in the illustration building display case :D

Fews Long Pose
First Figure Drawing long pose of the year. Some proportion issues i think i need to look closer at next time and that left arm looked fine while drawing it but now it looks off... I think i got it too dark. value relations! But it was a nice soft overhead light that was quite nice and tried to capture that softness, the scan makes it seem sharper though. about 2 hours total, 3B pencil, 8.5 by 11 sketchbook

Pen and Ink Fish
first project for illustration media in which we had to use pen and ink to depict a fish with the first letter of the fish somewhere in the pic. the O is the monocle haha. I was inspired by late 19th century early 20th century american cartoonist named T.S. Sullivant who did great work for Life magazine. It worked out, my first project in the Illustration building to be hung up :) of course always things to improve on.
here is some of his work
Sarasota Bayfront
