Guardian of the Mountain

A sketch i did in my sketchbook but refined on my tablet.  I started with just a shape and developed into this stegosaur-type dragon.  Old and Wise, a guardian of the mountains and maybe there are more of them, a council perhaps????

Javert's Suicide

I was listening to one song from Les Mis called "Javert's Suicide" and decided to draw a few quick sketches while listening to it.  The two don't necessarily have the same design.  The premise is he is deciding whether or not he should live on do to his confusion of how Jean Valjean let him go free, questioning if Valjean's "crimes should be reprieved." Inspector Javerts world was black and white now the "stars are black and cold..."

Long poses

the 1st one was i think 40 minutes, but may have been 60 and the last two were 20 minutes

Long Pose

This is a digital painting I did on my Ipad at my figure drawing club the other night.  It was my first time trying it out and no its not great by no means but i found it rather fun and hope to get better at it and hopefully do one with color involved. About 2 and a half hours with about 10 minute breaks every 20 minutes. or something like that anyways.

Wire Sculptures

I hated doing these. The wire was incredibly difficult to bend but they turned out fairly well for my first time.  This was for my 3D class that Illustration and Computer Animation majors are taking.  What we had to do was get a sequential pose and find the line of action and on top of that, make them balance and TRY to only use one single strand of wire for each.  This sequential is killing a bug.  We drew from a live model then modeled our wires based on those drawings.  We now have moved into actual sculpting with oil based clay. Looking forward to it because it will be something different.

The first is noticing the bug and about to swat it away. the second is getting ready for the kill. the final is the kill.

Cafe Drawings

Panda on a Unicorn?

Why? Well my friend Isaac Sorenson wanted it. He just wanted a line drawing and thought a panda on a unicorn would be fricken bad ass.  I enjoyed doing it haha.

Princess Riley

This is a digital painting commission I did for my old highschool theatre director Amanda Hestwood.  She wanted her daughter as a "Disney"style-like Princess.  She wanted this originally on her daughters wall but decided she wanted a painting instead, this way she could have it for a much longer time.  Her wall design is seen in an earlier post.  It was printed on 18 by 24 canvas to give it a painterly look that I thought would be interesting and it turned out quite well by printing it like that.  There are a few things that I'm not thrilled about partly due to the fact I learned about them while still in school here and couldn't go back and change it cause I had to get it done. I learned a lot while doing this which makes me happy in the end :)
