This project was our "final" for perspective class. It had to be in three point perspective and something had to be falling from the sky. My original idea was oz floating down onto emerald city but because of time and research my instructor told me to go with some european city, in this case more like a village. I only had about 2 hours to shade the damn thing but still turned out fairly well.

SkyFalling
This project was our "final" for perspective class. It had to be in three point perspective and something had to be falling from the sky. Cafe Studies
Cafe studies done in figure drawing. Basically the models create a scene and we can depict it any way we want. The first scene was a picnic scene the second was a bird lady. i tried to push this villainous quality i saw in her pose in the second one. 40 minutes each.

Rhythm
Some thumbnails to flesh out the design, there were a lot......
The next 2D project we just finished was Rhythm. I wanted to do something that involved a chinese dragon cause of how fluid and rhythmic it can be. The colors had to be triadic so I chose red, blue, and yellow triadic color scheme. We had to have at least three rhythms, the first is the dragon, the second the spikes, the third the chinese style smoke and fourth the mountains. The critique went over well, just a few things i need to fix and if anyone wishes to supply a comment on what they think might help please feel free to do so. The scales are something i want to learn more about so one task over winter break is figuring out how to do details like those. they are okay here but could be better. I also might play with the colors on the underbelly a little more, more contrast cause it is so close.
Emphasis
So this is a one of the many projects I did for my 2D design class. The task here was emphasis with silhouettes. After editing and modifying a few things I was able to make something I was fairly satisfied with. One of the things my instructor wanted us to focus on was the preliminary process. He believes in doing 100s of thumbnails and just lay down crap, like lines, shapes, etc and play like we were 5 again. let our imaginations wonder. Then go back and see what you can find out of such abstract designs. If we don't get in the way, our minds will make up a picture. Take a look at the clouds and in the first 5 seconds try and tell me you don't see a picture. I have come to learn to value his knowledge on such topics. I think i went through 13 pages like the ones here.
I like the idea that originated from a thumbnail, on it I saw a giant rooster and a fox. I thought it would be fun to do sort of a knight versus dragon concepts but a fox vs. a rooster cause there is that never ending battle it seems between these two. I thought it also would be fun to have the fox be the hero rather than the villain which the fox always seems to be depicted as and have the rooster be the threat. I would like to do more work with this idea in the future, an illustrative piece over the summer?????
The idea was to have four images each representing the same or elements, more if you wish and emphasis something different. the first had to be with color (the fox), the second contrast (the rooster), the third leading line (the sword) and fourth proximity (the rooster and fox compared to the other animals).

Sketchbook Stuff
Just some stuff from my sketchbook. For some reason I can't rotate these last three pics but oh well. Hands and feet are always troublesome so I've been working on them as much as possible, can't get enough of em. The hands are so expressive, and I should know I talk with my hands all the time haha.

LucasFilm
Yes, I can say LucasFilm came to our school this past Wednesday to talk about their company. The awesome thing about Ringling is how every year big companies come into recruit and talk about what their company has to offer for potential students for internships and such. It was really cool how much they offer, I even got a sweet star wars pin! I am really looking forward to the others that come in during the spring semester like Disney, Pixar, Hallmark to name a few.
Foreshortened Long Pose
Here was another long foreshortened pose we did in Figure. The last one (thank god) and now we get to move onto Cafe Studies which I am looking forward to because it involves more narrative and capturing character and expression than the daunting but necessary long poses. and yes, this model is extremely skinny.
Still Life Steps
A few weeks ago in Perspective Class we went outside to draw steps from Life. I used Black Conte for the entire piece and I am fairly satisfied with the way it turned out. Never used Conte for a fully rendered piece and I really would like to try it again sometime down the road.

Grandpa Observation
Here's a observational drawing I found I did sometime over last summer of my grandpa. I went a head and pushed some of his features. It was nice cause I think he was sleeping so he remained still, that's always nice haha.
Foreshortening
Here is a foreshortened pose I did in figure drawing, we've been working on foreshortening for about a week, week and a half I believe. Mastering foreshortening poses are never easy but this one seemed to work out fairly well for the most part.
Ipad Gestures

Here is a long pose. I believe both of this was an hour. I still need work on these long poses, I have a tendency to make my legs longer than they should. This one is better than most but still need work. But so far this is my favorite. Also work on hands and feet which will be delving into in the coming weeks.
