Emphasis

So this is a one of the many projects I did for my 2D design class. The task here was emphasis with silhouettes.  After editing and modifying a few things I was able to make something I was fairly satisfied with.  One of the things my instructor wanted us to focus on was the preliminary process.  He believes in doing 100s of thumbnails and just lay down crap, like lines, shapes, etc and play like we were 5 again. let our imaginations wonder.  Then go back and see what you can find out of such abstract designs.  If we don't get in the way, our minds will make up a picture. Take a look at the clouds and in the first 5 seconds try and tell me you don't see a picture.  I have come to learn to value his knowledge on such topics. I think i went through 13 pages like the ones here.

I like the idea that originated from a thumbnail, on it I saw a giant rooster and a fox.  I thought it would be fun to do sort of a knight versus dragon concepts but a fox vs. a rooster cause there is that never ending battle it seems between these two.  I thought it also would be fun to have the fox be the hero rather than the villain which the fox always seems to be depicted as and have the rooster be the threat.  I would like to do more work with this idea in the future, an illustrative piece over the summer?????

The idea was to have four images each representing the same or elements, more if you wish and emphasis something different. the first had to be with color (the fox), the second contrast (the rooster), the third leading line (the sword) and fourth proximity (the rooster and fox compared to the other animals).
