The Mystery of Edwin Drood

So my first blog I thought I'd start off with my set design I did for my fall musical my senior year of high school   The musical was The Mystery of Edwin Drood which was Charles Dickens last and unfinished novel that was turned into a musical where the audience gets to determine the outcome of the ending.  There is great actor audience interaction and I was the Chairman of the Music Hall Royale (the one in the red coat and top hat.  So basically it was a play, within a play....long story not going to go into detail.  It was truthfully a privilege and an honor to do this.  My director never had a student design a play for her so am honored that i was her first after years of directing.  I hope that maybe I could do this again in the future

The one pictured bellow is of the big piece I had to finish: the backdrop of the cathedral city of Cloisterham. The backdrop was 20 by 50 feet so it was a monster to paint. I had help thankfully and thank all of those that helped when they could.  Obviously it aint perfect and there are some things i never really got to finish or go back and fix and I think you can see the problem areas. But this all won me some very nice awards in the end and again, this was something that I was honored to tackle and glad I got the chance to do something like this I would also like to thank Director Amanda Hestwood, Tech Director Jimmy Stocco and Set Designer George Juarie thanks for the support.
